Privacy policy

This page explains what information wc30.org handles when you use it. There are no accounts and nothing to sign up for, so the list is short.

What stays on your device

Your game — the draw, every result, any ratings you have edited, your language — is saved in your browser's local storage so that it is still there when you come back. It is not uploaded to us. Clearing your browser's site data, or using the game's own reset, removes it. A game you save to a file stays on your device.

What is sent to our server

Finished tournaments. When you complete a World Cup in the simulator, the result is recorded for the Community Stats screen: the champion, the two finalists, the total number of goals and your interface language. Along with it we store the country your connection comes from, your IP address and your browser's user-agent string. We use these to compile the statistics and to detect automated or abusive submissions. They are not linked to a name or account, because we do not have one for you.

Usage events. The simulator also reports anonymous usage events, such as a match being simulated, so that we can see which features are used. At present these are discarded on arrival and not stored.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to count visits and understand how the site is used. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information such as the pages you view, the approximate region you are in, and your device and browser type. Google's own policy describes how it uses information from sites that use its services. You can opt out with Google's opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising

This site includes Google AdSense and may show advertisements. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on those visits. You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of a number of third-party vendors' cookies at aboutads.info.

Other services your browser contacts

  • Cloudflare hosts the site and delivers every page, and so processes your requests, including your IP address.
  • flagcdn.com serves the national flag images. Your browser requests them directly from that service.
  • Links to Discord and Ko-fi take you to those services, which have their own privacy policies. Nothing is shared with them unless you follow the link.

Children

The site is a general-audience football game. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes and contact

If what the site collects changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change with it. Questions about privacy can be put to us on the project's Discord server.
